Kerbey Lane Cafe

618 W 6th St
Austin, TX

all damned night!

Location: There are at least two of these in town, one on the classic Kerbey Lane off of 45th street, another near campus, 26th and Guadalupe.

Ambience: Homey, the classic location is actually in an old house, small rooms, large tables. The drag's decor is more regular restaurant style: square tables, large room, but a nice circular bar to break things up. Smoking available outside, and in a smoking room during designated hours.

Food: A little bit pricier than your standard diner fare, Kerbey serves up 'Hippy Spoon' food for the masses. Everything is all natural, and whenever possible, they try to use (and feature) locally grown produce. Breakfasts are a nice standby, but they have excellent quiche, salads, sandwiches and sticky buns. Their Migas (get them with Queso, Black Beans, Extra Tortillas) are to die for. And if you eat as much as you'd like to, you just might.

Personal Favorite: Carl's Breakfast. Classic simple breakfast, the bacon is cooked to crisp, melty perfection, eggs however you like, and an english muffin to pile it all on to. Served with fresh fruit and/or homefries.

Special Features: Grungy punks and Sorority Gals rub shoulders in this place. Be prepared to see some new faces, as well as some old.
