House of Pies is a long-standing late-night Houston tradition. They serve diner food and pies, as one might imagine from the name. The diner food is ooooookay, but the pies are what make the place. They have sugar-free for the health- and diet-conscious, too.
The clientele has changed substantially since my college days, when it was known as "House of Guys" and notorious as a gay hangout. Rumor had it that any man who ordered Boston Cream Pie would get special services in the men's room. Now it's much less interesting; you almost never see a drag queen at 2 AM. However, the pie is still yummy.
