Katz's Deli and bar

616 Westheimer
Houston, TX

all damned night!

Katz's is a Texas version of a New York Jewish deli. Not far from the corner of Westheimer and Montrose, it gets its share of interesting people by Houston standards. The service is good and the seating is generally quick.

The food is deli standard: sandwiches, dinner, and breakfast (served with beef bacon and turkey ham). I'm personally partial to the mushroom and cream cheese omelet and the cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing; my husband likes the Yankee pot roast, which a server recommended having with mushrooms instead of onions and with au jus.

I like it well enough that I eat there when the sun is up, too. 'Nuff said.
